Privacy
JSON Formatter Pro is a client-side tool. Any JSON you paste, type, upload, or drop into the editor is processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to any server, and no analytics events contain your content.
What is stored locally
- Your last input (up to 512 KB) so the editor restores when you return.
- Your formatting preferences: indentation, transforms, selected view, and theme.
These live in your browser's localStorage under the key
json-formatter-pro. Clearing your browser storage removes them completely.
Network requests
Once the page is loaded, JSON Formatter Pro makes no network requests with your content — your pasted, typed, or uploaded JSON is never sent anywhere. The page does load two third-party analytics scripts on every visit (see below); neither one ever receives your JSON content, and JSON Formatter Pro does not run any advertising or ad-network scripts.
Analytics
We use two analytics services, both limited to anonymous, aggregate usage data:
- Google Analytics (GA4): off by default; only activates once you click "Accept" on the cookie banner.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: cookieless, always on, used for aggregate page-view counts.
Neither service receives your JSON content or identifies you individually.
Advertising
JSON Formatter Pro does not display advertisements and does not run any ad-network scripts.
Cookies
JSON Formatter Pro uses cookies for:
- Functional: Theme preference, localStorage persistence (retained indefinitely until user clears)
- Analytics: Google Analytics (only after you accept) and Cloudflare Web Analytics (non-identifying, aggregate only, no cookie)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect tool functionality.
Data Retention
Browser Storage: Your formatter input and preferences are retained in browser localStorage until you manually clear them.
Analytics Data: Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics data are each retained in accordance with their respective privacy practices.
